Staff Team:

Prospect House Staff members will be carefully selected through a rigorous recruitment process and will offer a mix of  expertise  and enthusiasm. It is the aim of the home that 75% of the staff team will be trained to at least NVQ Level 2,  which  exceeds the  current requirement set by the National Care Standards Act 2000 and where appropriate staff will  receive  specialist training  appropriate to the service needs. Prospect House will use the Continuous Professional  Development system  not only to identify  specialist training needs but to enable staff members to achieve their own  personal professional goals. A  full induction and in  house training package is provided to all new staff, in line with  requirements.

All staff are CRB and POVA checked, and may be subject to additional checks once employment has commenced.

The arrangements for the supervision, training and the development of employees:

Prospect House has a robust policy for supervising staff. All staff undergo supervision appraisals (every 8 weeks minimum)  and  will have in place a Personal Development Plan, reviews are completed in line with the supervision policy and conducted  annually  with regular reviews to ensure completion of an action plan. Identified needs are fed through the business  planning  process and  training needs of the home. The training officer will implement a training plan based on the needs of  service users  and the staff  members.

Induction training is in line with Skills for Care. Training needs are identified based on the guidance of The Care Standards  Commission and individual special interests.

The training will be provided either in house with our own trainers, at a training venue arranged by Prospect House, or on  occasions staff will attend outside conferences and specialist training.

All staff are encouraged to undertake Level 2/3 NVQ in Care. Prospect House currently uses outside assessors for all its  N.V.Q  training.
